According to Jewish tradition, when the Jews were in caves learning Torah, hiding from the Greeks, Dreidel became a popular game to play. Legend has it that when the teacher would hear the Greek soldiers approaching, he would instruct the children to hide their Torah scrolls and take out their Dreidels instead.

After studying poetry for a month, fifth graders tried their hand at couplets, quatrains, limericks and free style. "Open Mic Night" is an opportunity to share those poems and celebrate the end of the study.
Hot chocolate and muffins lead students to believe we are in a cafe, and help them forget they are giving presentations. So much for nerves!
